I’ve just received word that my placement will be with an organization called CPAR (Canadian Physicians for AIDS Relief).
“CPAR is a relatively large non-governmental organization whose main mission is to work in partnership with vulnerable communities and diverse organizations to overcome poverty and build healthy communities in Africa.
Since CPAR is quite a large organization, it is involved in a large number of activities and sectors including the HIV/AIDS sector, water and sanitation sector, and agriculture and food security sector.
Specifically, you will be based in Kabudula, Lilongwe District in the central region where you will be working with CPAR on an agriculture and food security project, where you will be conducting an assessment of the different food processing and preservation methods and marketing opportunities for different crop types grown in the district.”
This is all I know at this moment. Through this blog, I hope to share highlights of my time overseas, things that I learn and interviews I have with people. I hope to convey this in a way so that you can put yourself in other people’s shoes and get a better understanding of their situations. Also, you will probably be able to see the progression of my understanding through my postings. In the words of the great Brad Statham, I’m stoked!
